Meet Your Innkeepers

Sean and Farrell, the dynamic duo behind the 1824 House Inn + Barn in Waitsfield, bring a diverse and expansive skill set to the establishment. Their journey in the hospitality industry began in their mid-twenties when they left their jobs in archeology and coaching in central Ohio to become innkeepers in Jamaica. This pivotal decision set the trajectory for the next two decades of their careers.

Their vast experience spans across various geographies, from Negril, Jamaica, to the west shore of Lake Tahoe, Park City in Utah, Ocala in Florida, the outskirts of Philadelphia, and Saugatuck in Michigan, among others. A highlight of their illustrious journey includes their tenure at the Inn at Grace Winery in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. Here, they managed a 15-room inn and undertook an ambitious project of renovating a 1750s four-story barn into an event space, winery, and tasting room.

In the kitchen of the 1824 House, Sean showcases his culinary prowess. Known as the eggs Benedict maestro, he ensures the inn stands out as the only bed and breakfast in the valley offering a made-to-order breakfast. Guests can relish his inventive takes on the classic dish, such as roasted pork with cherry reduction, smoked brisket, fried green tomato, or smoked salmon. This is complemented by a range of other beloved dishes, from corned beef hash to buttermilk pancakes and omelets.

Just as Sean will get you fed, Farrell will get you on your way.  Wether it be helping organize your daily itineraries for your stay, from the best hiking or shopping to a tour of covered bridges or working by your side to craft the perfect private event including corporate retreats, intimate weddings or private dinners.
